Highlights from the October A good idea I heard from another meeting – on their group’s phone list they also include the websites: Another good idea – trouble getting people to “volunteer for service” …in your group….have a structured election, nominate and vote…an option. For discussion: Do you think the District web site should have a “members” page, with a password where you could find things like: District Minutes, and ???more. If so, what would you like to see there. We are working on next years budget. More to follow. Public Outreach is waiting for the Fall magazine Al-Anon Faces Alcoholism, which we mail to our professional mailing list each year. Public Outreach is very acive at treatment centers, health fairs, mailings, increasing the mailing list by calling schools, health care professionals, law enforcement professionals etc. Public Outreach is looking for volunteers to make some phone calls to professionals to see if they would like to be on our mailing list. The names and numbers will be provided, as many or as few calls as you wish to make. The more of us that volunteer the fewer calls for all. Interested in that or being on the Speakers List - email Kris, Public Outreach Coordinator via the roguevalleyal-anon.org website. Southern OregonJamboree – soon – many Al-Anon members on panels, Come and support your fellow Al-Anons. Red Lion in Medford The recent fellowship event – a visit from Roland and Billie our Oregon Area Delegates, was well attended. We reflected on this event and what it means to our District, Our Group and our Personal Recovery. The message that will stay with me is: This IS a Spiritual Program, in service I have the opportunity to get, as Roland says, even closer to my HIGHER POWER. The Group Representatives, Oregon Area Officers, Committee Chair people, and District Representatives will soon be going to the November Assembly in Newport. (The weekend before Thanksgiving). There will be a fund raiser there to support the State Speakers Meeting coming up on April 24 2009. They are asking for home made items to sell. Those of you who are crafty – here is your chance, anything home made: such as (but not limited to: scarves, hats, slippers, pillows, cross stitch, embroidery items …let your Group Representative know she/he will see that they get there… if you don’t have a Group Representative email me via the RoguevalleyAl-anon.org website.
